WASHINGTON (Feb. 2)—Network of Employers for Traffic Safety, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting traffic safety in the workplace, has joined the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to develop "Guidelines for Employers to Reduce Motor Vehicle Crashes."
The 32-page booklet outlines a 10-step program to help employers design an effective traffic safety campaign for workers. The guidelines include details on the causes of aggressive, distracted, drowsy and impaired driving, with recommendations on how to avoid these pitfalls.
The booklet also includes a sample worksheet for calculating the costs of motor vehicle accidents to employers. To order copies of the guidelines, visit the publications section of OSHA'S Web site at www.osha.gov or call 202-693-1888.
