This Report has been authored by:Michawl K. Agodoa at Laur Silicone

One Part® LSR can be co-molded with various organic elastomers and plastics without fear of inhibition. Due to its unique catalyst system, One Part® LSR is not inhibited by the typical chemicals that inhibit or poison platinum cured, two part liquid silicone rubber. Inhibitors such as sulfur containing elastomers, amines, nitrogen containing chemicals or organometallic compounds have little or no effect on the cure profiles of One Part® LSR. In fact, One Part can be co-molded and bonded to elastomers containing some of these chemicals. This paper will explore the cure profiles of One Part® LSR in the presence of various organic elastomers using an MDR 2000 rheometer. The effect of organic materials such as peroxide cured EPDM, sulfur cured nitrile, sulfur and peroxide cured neoprene, sulfur and peroxide cured HNBR, as well as sulfur and peroxide cured NBR will be evaluated. In addition, the paper will discuss a new line of novel One Part® LSR compounds that can be bonded to these elastomers in a dual injection molding setup. This technology opens a whole new area of silicone-organic elastomer applications that take advantage of the unique properties of these elastomers.
