TRELLEBORG, Sweden (Dec. 27)—Trelleborg A.B. has agreed to buy the remaining 70-percent interest it didn't own in Elastomer Compounding S.R.O. of the Czech Republic from Rado of Germany.
Trelleborg has owned 30-percent of the Lesina, Czech Republic, mixer since 1998. The operation produces rubber compounds used primarily by profile manufacturers in the construction and industrial sectors. Trelleborg said most of Elastomer Compounding's production already is delivered to Trelleborg companies.
The deal will strength the Trelleborg Building Systems' business in both Eastern and Western Europe, said Peter Suter, president of the division. The modern facility has annual sales of about $9.4 million and production capacity of 20,000 metric tons with plenty of room for growth, and employs 40, Trelleborg said.
The deal is expected to close Jan. 1.
