SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Dec. 9)—Stankiewicz GmbH has more than doubled the size of its Spartanburg plant to increase the production of automotive parts.
The ContiTech A.G. company invested about $10 million to expand the factory to 145,800 square feet from 70,632 square feet. Stankiewicz also has increased the size of its work force to 300 from 192 during the last several months, the company said.
The company decided to expand the Spartanburg site after it landed a large contract to produce a large number of different parts for the new Mercedes M-Class being built by DaimierChrysler at its Alabama facility.
