TRELLEBORG, Sweden (Dec. 2)—Trelleborg A.B. will build a plant in Romania for automotive anti-vibration products, to be operational by year-end 2006.
Construction should start during the first quarter, Trelleborg said. The factory should generate annual sales of $37 million by 2009, the firm said, although it will be built with enough capacity for twice this volume. The plant will employ 200 at startup.
"The purpose of the new production facility is to move closer to markets in Eastern Europe that are growing more rapidly than those in Western Europe and to establish cost-effective production for deliveries to Western European customers," said Trelleborg President and CEO Peter Nilsson.
