QUINCY, Ill. (Nov. 28)—Titan International Inc. has reached a tentative agreement with the United Steelworkers, putting Titan a step closer to buying Goodyear's North American farm tire business.
Titan said the tentative agreement with USW Local 745L covers workers at Goodyear´s farm tire plant in Freeport, Ill. The union will schedule a ratification vote in the coming weeks, the company said.
Titan and Goodyear signed a definitive agreement for Titan to buy Goodyear´s farm tire business in February, but the deadlines for completing the sale were pushed back as Titan struggled to complete an agreement with the union. Goodyear´s contract with the USW included a succession clause that calls for a new contract with any company purchasing a union plant.
