PORT NECHES, Texas (Nov. 9)—ISP Elastomers began taking normal orders Nov. 3 on nine grades of SBR, according to a letter to customers from Melvin W. Martin, ISP Elastomers senior vice president and general manager.
The company needs to replenish its inventory of finished goods before it can lift the force majeure notice it issued in the wake of Hurricane Rita, the Nov. 2 letter said. The Port Neches plant is fully operational again, Martin said in the letter, but the company has some concerns about the reliability of electrical power because one of the two major feed lines serving the plant is still down. That line should be working again by the first part of December, he added.
The grades on which ISP is again taking orders are 1510, 1606L, 1712, 1713, 1778, 1815, 1847, 1848 and 4684. Martin and other ISP officials could not immediately be reached for further comment.
