NOVI, Mich. (Nov. 7)—Cooper-Standard Automotive Inc. plans to close its noise, vibration and harshness products manufacturing plant in El Dorado, Ark., within 12-18 months.
Production will be transferred to other Cooper-Standard NVH facilities. The firm employs about 400 in El Dorado.
Cooper-Standard said the closure is needed to better align its manufacturing capacity. "We currently have underutilization of our manufacturing assets," said Global NVH President Jim Pifer. "This move will improve our utilization levels and strengthen the portfolio of products manufactured at our other NVH facilities."
On its Web site, Cooper-Standard also lists NVH factories in Auburn, Ind.; Mitchell, Ontario; and Kunshan, China.
