ARLINGTON, Va. (Oct. 20) — Dow Chemical Co. has been named the winner of the first Polyurethane Innovation Award by the Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry.
The firm was recognized for its unique use of polyurethane in Great Stuff, an insulating foam sealant.
"Dow Chemical´s use of polyurethane in a foam sealant that can improve overall building insulation represents the level of innovation that characterizes the polyurethanes industry," API Executive Director Dick Mericle said in making the announcement.
The company was one of three finalists for the award. The others were BASF Corp. for a coil spring isolator assembly that contributes to noise/vibration/harshness reduction in cars, and CardXX´s smart card line that enhances the electronic capabilities of smart cards.
The awards presentation was made at the API-sponsored Polyurethanes 2005 Technical Conference and Trade Fair, held in Houston, Texas.
