CARROLLTON, Texas (Oct. 6) — BASF Corp. will close its polyurethane systems production facility in Carrollton by mid-2006 as part of a restructuring program to reduce costs in North America.
Production at the site will be consolidated into other BASF polyurethane systems locations in the U.S. About 15 jobs will be affected.
"This action is necessary to improve our efficiency and cost competitiveness," said Bill Bernstein, group vice president of BASF´s polyurethanes business in North America.
"We regret the impact this will have on our Carrollton employees, who have worked productively, safely and professionally," he said. "We are committed to providing the necessary support services to assist our employees during the transition."
