AKRON—Arthur de Bok has been named the new president of Goodyear´s European Union tire business, replacing Michael J. Roney, who resigned recently to become president of Bunzl P.L.C.
The 43-year-old de Bok joined Goodyear in January 2002 as vice president of marketing for the European Union business. Prior to that, he held several executive positions at Procter & Gamble Co.
When the EU business was restructured into product business units in mid-2003, he was promoted to vice president of its consumer tire business where, according to Chairman and CEO Robert J. Keegan, de Bok built a strong, multifunctional team that was innovative and came up with products that were successful in the marketplace.
Roney moved on because an excellent opportunity presented itself, a Goodyear spokesman said. Roney, 51, president of the EU activities since May 2001, has been a non-executive director of Bunzl since June 2003.
