AKRON (Sept. 16)— Goodyear has named Arthur de Bok president of its European Union business, replacing Michael J. Roney who resigned recently to become president of Bunzl P.L.C.
The 43-year-old de Bok joined Goodyear in January 2002 as vice president of marketing for the European Union business. Prior to that, he held several executive positions at Procter & Gamble Co.
When the EU business was restructured into product business units in mid-2003, he was promoted to vice president of its consumer tire business, where, according to Chairman and CEO Robert J. Keegan, de Bok built a strong, multi-functional team that was innovative and came up with products that were successful in the marketplace.
"Arthur came to us with a rich background in consumer in consumer goods marketing and took our European marketing activities to a new level before being given overall responsibility for consumer tires," Keegan said.
Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the EU business is Goodyear´s largest outside of North America with 2004 sales revenues of $4.5 billion.
