MIDLAND, Mich. (Sept. 14)—Dow Chemical Co. said its Union Carbide Corp. ethanolamines plant at its St. Charles operations in Hahnville, La., has resumed production.
The facility had been closed as a result of Hurricane Katrina. If all goes as planned, it should be back in normal production within several days, said Ken Bromfield, marketing manager for Dow Ethanolamines.
Bromfield noted transportation and logistics in the region hit by the hurricane are constrained, and supply disruptions could last through at least October.
Ethanolamines are used in rubber production, in accelerators, with urethane chemicals and foams and with adhesives, among other applications.
