AKRON (Sept. 2)—Goodyear´s Wingtack adhesives resins business is now officially part of Sartomer Co. Inc.
The two companies had announced a pending deal involving the division in early July. It was finalized Sept. 1.
Exton, Pa.-based Sartomer, a unit of French energy firm Total S.A., bought the business, including a manufacturing operation in Beaumont, Texas, for about $65 million. The manufacturing operation is adjacent to Goodyear´s synthetic rubber production facility in Beaumont, which will continue to supply raw materials for Wingtack production.
The Wingtack adhesives resins business produces hydrocarbon resins that are used in a variety of pressure-sensitive and hot melt applications. It has a work force of about 115.
Sartomer plans to incorporate the Wingtack C5 resins into its existing hydrocarbon resins business, which includes its Norsolene C9 resins, which are used in making zero-VOC hot-melt adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, coatings, inks and rubber applications.
