MIDLAND, Mich. (Sept. 2)—Dow Chemical Co. will increase prices in the U.S. and Canada for Voranate toluene diisocyanate, Voralux, Voranol and Specflex polyether and copolymer polyol products, effective Oct. 1.
Voranate prices will rise by 10 cents a pound while the cost of Voranol, Voralux and Specflex will jump 6 cents per pound. The increases apply to all market segments and end-use applications, the company said.
"Unrelenting increases and volatility in energy and raw material costs, particularly natural gas, propylene and toluene, continue to impact our production costs and overall margins," according to Chuck Reardon, North American product market manager of Dow Polyurethanes. "Our TDI margins, in particular, are at a historic low.
"Also we are experiencing continued supply/demand tightness for propylene, propylene oxide and polyols. These price increases are necessary in order to help us keep pace with rising costs."
