VIENNA, Austria (Aug. 26)—Industrial rubber products maker Semperit A.G. is building two plants in China and one in Thailand this year for hydraulic hose, handrails and examination gloves, respectively.
Semperit is investing $30 million in the hose plant, to be built near Shanghai, but didn't specify the investments in the other two plants. Annual capacity at Semperflex Shanghai Ltd. will be 7 million meters a year, with output going to the Chinese and U.S. markets, the firm said.
The handrail plant is being built on land adjacent to the hose plant. The company said handrail production already in place in Shanghai will move to the new plant and be expanded substantially, as the firm's handrail production is intended largely for the Chinese market.
The glove plant, in Hat yai, will be Semperit's third glove factory in Thailand. Production start-up will before year-end, Semperit said.
