WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (Aug. 15)—American Biltrite Inc. reported a net loss of $14.7 million for its second quarter, similar to that recorded a year earlier, while two divisions showed improvement.
The firm´s Tape and Canadian divisions had better sales and pretax results for the quarter vs. the 2004 period, the company said.The K&M division had lower sales and pretax earnings.
Overall sales fell 2.6 percent to $109.5 million for the three months.
The firm said the Congoleum division would have posted a modest profit for the quarter if it wasn´t for an asbestos-related charge.
