PLYMOUTH, Mich. (Aug. 12)—Dutch rubber and plastics specialist Helvoet Rubber & Plastic Technologies has opened an office in Plymouth to foster contact with the U.S. automotive manufacturing and supply industry.
Helvoet, based in Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands, said the move "is symbolic for two reasons": First it establishes the firm´s first foothold in North America; and second it reflects Helvoet´s increased business aspirations with the automotive industry.
Helvoet expanded considerably into automotive supply and precision plastics components earlier this year when it bought Royal Philips Electronics N.V.´s Philips High Tech Plastics Automotive unit. The Philips unit specializes in high-precision plastics parts and specifically supplies a third of all impellers, or centrifugal fans, for automotive fuel pumps, Helvoet said.
Helvoet said the office offers customer support to Delphi, Visteon, TI Automotive, Borg Warner, Siemens North America, and Bosch, and may add several others.
The team moving into the new office comprises Lisa Carlson, inside sales coordinator; Dennis Que, development engineer; and Mike Kole, sales & marketing manager.
Helvoet supplies rubber parts to North American customers from a plant in Queretaro, Mexico, set up last year and officially commissioned in May.
