FAIRLAWN, Ohio (June 6)—Omnova Solutions Inc. and the union representing workers its Mogadore, Ohio, synthetic latex plant have a new four-year contract agreement.
The company announced June 6 that members of Local 419-C of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union ratified the pact. The deal—which runs through March 31, 2009—covers about 82 bargaining unit members, Omnova said. The firm employs about 132 at the Mogadore site.
"This new contract helps to positively address cost and work processes that are critical to the plant´s competitiveness, while continuing to provide an excellent wage and benefit package for our Mogadore hourly workforce," said Kevin McMullen, Omnova Solutions chairman and CEO.
The Mogadore facility is part of the company´s Performance Chemicals business segment. The plant produces synthetic latex used as binders and adhesives for paper coatings, carpet-backing, nonwoven products such as disposable diapers, construction, tires and many other applications.
