TOKYO (April 13)—Mitsui Chemicals Inc. has developed a line of alpha-olefin-based elastomers, made using metallocene catalysts, it plans to launch in November.
The material, to be sold under the Notio name, offers improved transparency, heat resistance, flexibility, elasticity and scratch resistance thanks to its novel nanostructure, Mitsui said. These characteristics make it a candidate for applications such as protection films of electronic and optical parts as well as for a wide variety of sealing materials.
Mitsui projects Notio will achieve the annual sales of at least $9 million by 2008. Mitsui will make Notio at its Ichihara, Japan, plant after "minor" modifications.
