MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (March 10)—Magnifoam Technology International Inc.'s North American Silicone division has been awarded a $440,000 contract to supply silicone foam seating components to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority for a refurbishment of one of its lines.
This latest deal is in addition to a $500,000 contract Magnifoam filled in 2003-04 for the refurbishment of 108 Silverliner IV rail cars and a second contract for new Silverliner V rail cars valued at more than $600,000.
"As our customers gain experience using MF1 silicone in new car builds, they also see the real value of Magnifoam durability and our 10-year comfort warranty for refurbishment programs," said Gregg Strangways, vice president, North American Silicones.
"Magnifoam continues to be first choice for seating comfort in the North American rail industry and we are working to expand our full range of products in mass transit projects throughout North America and Europe."
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority is one of the largest transit authorities in the U.S., principally serving the Philadelphia region with 304 self-propelled cars, 345 rapid-transit and 220 light rail vehicles on 449 miles of track.
