AKRON—James Dowey, a veteran of the automotive equipment segment, is the new vice president of operations for the Poling Group.
Dowey joined the Poling Group—the umbrella organization for a handful of equipment, manufacturing controls and software companies supplying the tire and automotive industries, including Akron Special Machinery Inc.—in December.
From January 2000 until last December, Dowey served as president and chief operating officer of Air Enterprises Inc., a manufacturer of custom heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
He was president for the ITW Quality Measurement Systems Group of Illinois Tool Works from 1991 to 2000. There he was responsible for a group of global manufacturing companies of capital equipment for the tire and automotive industries.
From 1989 to 1997 Dowey served as president of the Akron Standard Division for Eagle-Picher Industries Inc.
