Lord Corp. has added an environmentally friendly adhesive for rubber-to-metal bonding and a fluid- and ozone-resistant coating for rubber. Chemlok 6253 meets higher performance requirements for under-the-hood automotive anti-vibration components. The adhesive offers higher solids and film build with one application, more efficient transfer and minimal setting, the company said. Chemlok 6253 provides good sweep, chemical, environmental, salt spray and automotive fluid resistance and meets the non-lead requirements in the European End of Life Vehicle Directive. Lord HPC-5C (clear) and HPC-5B (black) high-performance elastomer coatings bring heat resistance, environmental protection, adhesion to rubber and metal, and flexibility to withstand dynamic motions to automotive, industrial, marine, off-highway/agriculture, aerospace/aircraft and oil drilling type applications. Curing at room temperature, the coatings can protect a natural rubber substrate from ozone and moderate exposure to various petroleum oils and fuels, Lord said.
