MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (Feb. 1)—Crompton Corp. has increased prices for its Royalene EPDM rubbers and rubber chemicals.
Prices for the Royalene line rose 8 to 25 cents per pound on all deliveries on or after Dec. 20, 2004, or as contracts allow, the company said. This the fourth price hike for the synthetic rubber in less than a year.
The supplier raised rubber chemical prices at varying levels from 10 to 60 cents a pound, depending on the product. The increases became effective Jan. 1 or as contracts allow, and are the second since fall 2004.
The company said the rubber chemicals price hikes replace an existing benzene surcharge.
Crompton said the sustained increase in the cost of key raw materials prompted the price hikes.
