DETROIT (Jan. 12)—Italian sports and luxury car maker Ferrari S.p.A. is fitting its innovative V-12-powered Superamerica convertible exclusively with a non-directional, asynchronous tread-patterned version of its Bridgestone Potenza RE050 radial tire line.
The Superamerica, a limited edition convertible derived from the 575M Maranello, features an innovative rotating roof in combination with electrochromic technology that allows the driver to adjust the amount of sunlight that shines into the cockpit.
Bridgestone engineers have designed the tires—255/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR19 rear—to provide excellent performance on both wet and dry surfaces. The inner portion of the tread is optimized for wet-surface performance and the outer portion for dry-surface handling and the whole tire is tuned for comfort as well.
The Superamerica debuted Jan. 9 at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
