Primary antioxidant emulsions, predominantly consisting of phenolics, have been widely used to improve the degradation of polymeric systems. These emulsions can be successfully improved through the incorporation of synergists with the primary antioxidant. This paper will be a practical approach to showing the improved efficacy of these types of antioxidant emulsions in various types of polymers. The following polymers will be evaluated using antioxidant emulsions containing a synergist. 1. SBR Latex 2. Polychloroprene latex 3. Nitrile latex 4. Natural latex Physical properties will be measured to show the retarding of degradation by the synergist containing antioxidant emulsions.
