OWEGO, N.Y. (Dec. 14)—DuPont Dow Elastomers L.L.C., Lord Corp.'s Mechanical Group and Saint-Gobain´s Norton Performance Plastics' unit are among 20 suppliers that will furnish parts for a new Marine helicopter if a consortium known as "Team US101" wins a government contract to produce the aircraft.
Team US101—a group led by Lockheed Martin Systems Integration and AgustaWestlandùis competing with Sikorsky Aircraft to win the government bid for manufacturing the US101 helicopter, an updated version of AgustaWestland´s current EH101 multi-mission helicopter.
Lord would produce elastomeric bearings for the aircraft, and Saint-Gobain would produce Tygon and Teflon tubing, a US101 spokesman said. He did not know what DuPont Dow is in line to produce for the helicopter, but the company makes Kalrez perfluoroelastomer parts for the EH101, a DuPont Dow spokeswoman said.
Team US101 expects the government to issue the contract in late January, the spokesman said.
