NORMAN, Okla. (Nov. 1)—Federal Recycling Technologies Inc. has identified 26 locations in the U.S. as potential sites for its proprietary tire pyrolysis technology.
Norman-based FRT plans to license its technology to entrepreneurs who then will be responsible for raising the $23 million for building the facility, according to FRT President Robert Shapiro. According to FRT's business plan, each plant will earn $13.5 million annually before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, and produce more than 8,000 tons of carbon black and 3.7 million gallons of plasticizer oil annually.
Allen Hardesty and Tommy Green, principals of the newly formed Oklahoma Tire Recycling, currently are contacting equity funds to back a pyrolysis plant in Ponca City, Okla. Other potential sites for FRT pyrolysis plants include Phoenix, and Pleasanton, Sherman, Anahuac, Waxahachie, Charles City and San Antonio, Texas.
