NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Yuji Tomiyasu, vice chairman and president of Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. and Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire L.L.C., has returned to Japan because of ill health.
Asahiko "Duke" Nishiyama will succeed Tomiyasu on Jan. 1, and also serve as executive vice president of Bridgestone Americas Holding, the company said. Nishiyama currently is director of Americas and European Operations for parent company Bridgestone Corp.
Tomiyasu will take a position at Bridgestone Corp. in Tokyo after he recovers. He joined Bridgestone Corp. in 1974 and worked in the original equipment sales group in Japan and in Europe.
In early 2002 he became director of Americas and European Operations. Last January he was named to the Bridgestone Americas Holding job, and in April the BFS North American Tire post.
Nishiyama is a 27-year veteran of Bridgestone. He took his current post in January.
He has served in a variety of positions, including jobs at Bridgestone´s International Division and Human Resources group. He also has been director of business planning for Bridgestone Americas.
