Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India's largest engineering and construction conglomerate, has engaged M. Sacks International Inc. to represent its LTM Ltd. tire machinery business unit in the Americas.
Akron-based Sacks International, an international manufacturers' representative and distributor in a number of industries, has gained some experience in the tire industry in recent years representing ITW-Standard's Micropoise product line in South America and Israel, according to President Michael B. Sacks.
LTM has been in the tire machinery business since 1974, first as a licensee of McNeil-Akron Inc. then later on its own, according to Siddharth, assistant manager, international sales. LTM has been part of Larsen & Toubro since 1995.
LTM hopes to break into the Americas' markets by offering quality and customization at a competitive price, Siddharth said in Akron at ITEC. The company promoted its line of hydraulic tire curing presses during the show, but Siddharth said LTM makes other processing equipment as well, including tire building machines, bias cutters, batch-off units and segmented mold containers. LTM has been producing hydraulic curing presses for about five years, building on its 25-plus years of experience in mechanical curing presses, he said.
Sacks International is building an inventory of spare parts at its Akron warehouse for the LTM product line, Sacks said.
Larsen & Toubro is an India company founded in 1938 by two Danish engineers, Henning Holck-Larsen and Soren Toubro.
