MURRAY HILL, N.J., (Oct. 7)—Conmed Corp. has completed the purchase of a portion of C.R. Bard Inc.'s Endoscopic Technologies Division for about $80 million.
Included in the deal are a number of the division's product lines and headquarters facility in Billerica, Mass., which houses its manufacturing administration, sales, administration, research and development, marketing and quality units.
Utica, N.Y.-based Conmed plans to move the product lines from C.R. Bard's plants in Glen Falls, N.Y., Puerto Rico and Mexico to its own factories during a transition period that likely will take a year to complete.
In the meantime, C.R. Bard will manufacturer the productsùwhich include single-use medical devices for diagnosing diseases of the digestive tract and lungsùunder a contract with Conmed.
C.R. Bard, based in Murray Hill, will retain the division's enteral feeding and endoscopic suturing lines and plans to transfer them to other business units.
