PARIS (Sept. 24)—Rhodia Silica Systems is raising prices for its main range of silicas by 8 percent, effective Oct. 1. The company linked the move to rising prices for raw materials such as soda ash, sand and sodium silicate, as well as higher energy and transportation costs.
Rhodia Silica, a unit of Paris-based Rhodia S.A., sells high-performance silicas under the Highly Dispersible Silicas and Micro-Pearl Silicas names. It supplies the tire, oral care, food ingredients, feed additives, technical rubber parts and sport shoes markets.
