MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (Sept. 22)—Crompton Corp.'s Urethanes business will increase prices Oct. 15 in the U.S. and Canada on its Adiprene/Vibrathane products.
Prices will rise 10 to 15 cents per pound on the Adiprene/Vibrathane castable urethane MDI and TDI prepolymers and 20 to 50 cents per pound on aliphatic products.
In addition, the company said it is adding a 2 cent-per-pound surcharge for goods sold in steel drums and pails because of the rapid escalation of steel prices over the past several months. The charge will be adjusted based on the future price of steel, Crompton said.
"These price increase are warranted because of the continued escalation in feedstock and energy costs that impact the price of raw materials we use to manufacture our castable urethane products," said Andy Clock, worldwide business director for Crompton's Adiprene/Vibrathane urethanes business.
