MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (Sept. 14)—Crompton Corp.´s urethane business will boost prices effective Sept. 15 by 20 to 25 cents a pound on its line of Fomrez polyester polyols in North America.
The firm said the price hike is needed because of the continued rise in the cost of key raw materials used to make the polyols. "The main drivers of this increase are the hike in crude oil and benzene feedstocks as well as tight supply of these products caused by strong demand in the U.S. and Asia-Pacific," said Ron Matula, Crompton´s business manager for the product line in the Americas.
The polyester polyols are used to make flexible foam, castable elastomers, thermoplastic urethanes, adhesives, coatings and shoe soles.
