TELFORD, England (Aug. 30)—Trelleborg A.B. plans to close an extruded profiles plant in Telford and consolidate production of industrial profiles in the United Kingdom at a facility in Minworth, England.
Trelleborg said it will phase out production at Telford—formerly DJ Profiles, acquired by Trelleborg in late 2003 from Epwin Group—over the next six to eight months. A Trelleborg spokeswoman said some 50 employees will be affected by the move.
Trelleborg's decision to close the Telford site has been made to increase the efficiency of Trelleborg Industrial Profiles U.K. further, said the spokeswoman, who added that negotiations with trade unions are continuing.
The Swedish rubber conglomerate said when it bought the Telford operation that its aim was to strengthen the Trelleborg Industrial Profiles U.K. business and widen a little the sectors that it served.
