CARLISLE, Pa. (Aug. 9)—Roofing manufacturer Carlisle SynTec Inc. plans to open two new facilities in 2005, one for thermoplastic olefin roofing membranes and the other for polyisocyanurate insulation products, the Carlisle Cos. Inc. division announced.
The TPO roofing plant will be built in Tooele, Utah, outside of Salt Lake City, while the insulation manufacturing facility will be opened in Terrell, Texas, the company said. Carlisle-based Carlisle SynTec will produce its Sure-Weld TPO single-ply roofing membranes and related accessories at the Utah site.
Demand for these roofing and insulation products has grown in recent years, Carlisle said. The Tooele plant will be the company's second TPO facility and allow Carlisle to be the first major roofing manufacturer with a TPO factory in the western U.S., the firm said. Its first TPO plant, in Senatobia, Miss., opened in 1998 and expanded with a second production line in 2001.
