MIDDLETON, England (Aug. 3)—Cellular polymer specialist British Vita P.L.C. has bought the remaining 50-percent share of Vitafoam Products Canada Ltd., Engineered Foam Products Ltd. and subsidiaries collectively known as Vitafoam Canada.
Downsview, Ontario-based Vitafoam Canada makes flexible polyurethane foam for comfort and industrial applications at multiple locations throughout Canada, according to Vita. It paid $27.7 million for the holdings.
British Vita has owned half of the business since 1973, with the Himel family owning the other half.
British Vita CEO David Campbell said the deal represents a strategic geographic extension of Vita's global leadership in cellular polymers. It is an opportunity in North America to build on the firm's core divisional strengths and enhance shareholder value, he said.
