EXTON, Pa. (July 30)—Specialty chemicals maker Sartomer Co. will operate in Japan on an independent basis under the name Sartomer Japan Inc., beginning Sept. 1, the company announced.
Previously, Sartomer sold its monomers and oligomers in Japan via its 12-year joint venture with Nippon Kayaku Co. Ltd. (Tokyo) under the name Kayaku Sartomer Co. Ltd. On July 6, Sartomer acquired 100 percent of the joint venture and renamed it Sartomer Japan.
During its partnership with Nippon Kayaku, Sartomer was able to expand its market share of liquid monomers and oligomers in Japan, the company said. But David Long, Sartomer senior vice president of finance and Asia, said it was "time for Sartomer to establish its own independent network in Japan."
