Preferred Rubber Compounding Corp. has introduced five EPDM compounds for potable water uses. The new compounds are designed for minimal extraction of ingredients in potable water applications. They won´t leach out when used to produce seals and gaskets for pipes and other conveyors of water, the company said. The compounds were classified by Underwriters´ Laboratories to the National Sanitation Foundation Standard 61, Drinking Water System Components-Health Effects. Preferred also offers four polyisoprene compounds suitable for use requiring exposure to cold potable water in pipes and related products.
