CLEVELAND (June 23)—PolyOne Corp. has transferred the performance additives capacity at its Wynne, Ark., plant to three other factories in its Elastomers and Performance Additives Group, completing a rationalization project it started in November.
The PolyOne unit, which is for sale, transferred the capacities to facilities in Kennedale, Texas; Dyersburg, Tenn.; and Massillon, Ohio, without interruption of supply to customers, according to Marc Pignataro, sales/marketing manager for performance additives in the Elastomers and Performance Additives Group.
PolyOne said last year it would take a one-time charge of about $15 million to cover the closing of plants in Wynne and DeForest, Wis. The consolidation is expected to yield annual pretax savings of $7.5 million, the firm said at that time.
About 230 employees were to lose their jobs in Wynne and DeForest, PolyOne said last year. The firm declined to comment at this time about the current status of those employees or of potential new jobs at Kennedale, Dyersburg or Massillon.
