REIDSVILLE, N.C. (June 11)—Metzeler Automotive Profile Systems North America Inc. is expanding its Reidsville door and window seal plant with the help of financial incentives offered by local municipalities.
Metzeler has budgeted $7.5 million to expand the Reidsville facility, one of five the company operates in North America. The expansion will create 142 jobs at the factory by the end of 2005, according to the Rockingham County Partnership for Economic & Tourism Development.
The project includes adding capacity for making plastic parts for sealing systems. Metzeler officials did not return several calls seeking elaboration.
According to the proposed agreement, the county and the city will split $258,000 in tax incentives about 50/50.
The Reidsville plant employs 368 making door and window seals for BMW North America Inc., Ford Motor Co. and Daimler/Chrysler A.G. automobiles, the Rockingham County agency said.
