MIDLAND, Mich. (June 11)—Dow Chemical Co. is increasing annual capacity for propylene oxide at its Stade, Germany, plant by 7 percent to 590,000 metric tons.
The capacity hike confirms Dow's commitment to propylene oxide and polyether polyols and other PO derivatives, according to Earl Shipp, who recently was appointed business director, Dow PO/PG.
The expansion brings Dow's global PO capability to 1.86 million tons. The firm also produces PO in Freeport, Texas (estimated at about 700,000 tons); Plaquemine, La. (about 350,000 tons); and in Aratu, Brazil (about 220,000 tons).
