LEVERKUSEN, Germany (May 27)—Bayer MaterialScience is raising prices June 1 in Europe for all of its key polyurethane raw materials, citing increased raw material costs and an "unsatisfactory trend in margins," as reasons for the move.
The price of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate for commodity applications will increase by up to 49 cents per kilogram and for system applications by up to 37 cents per kilogram. The price of toluene diisocyanate, one of the other key polyurethane raw materials, will rise by 12 cents per kilogram while the prices of short-chain polyether polyols and systems will be increased by up to 31 cents per kilogram.
These price adjustments, which apply to both polymers and monomers, will not affect current contractual obligations, Bayer said.
