AKRON (May 4)—Goodyear has named Rene Zimmer, a research and development fellow at its Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, technical center, a Distinguished Corporate Inventor in recognition of his work in R&D for the company.
Zimmer is only the 42nd recipient of the award, given to those individuals who have earned 40 or more patents or trade secret awards, including a minimum of 20 issued patents and at least one patent of commercial significance to the company, Goodyear said.
In addition, 32 associates were named "Inventors of the Year" for 2003 and 12 were awarded Silver Coin honors in recognition of their contributions over the course of their careers with the tire maker, Goodyear said.
The awards are among recognitions Goodyear gave recently to more than 350 of its R&D associates at technical centers in Akron and Colmar-Berg. Those recognized were responsible for more than 260 U.S. patents and 68 trade secrets in 2003, Goodyear said.
