NEW DELHI, India (April 22)—Michelin Apollo Tyres Pvt. Ltd.—the 51:49 joint venture between Groupe Michelin and Apollo Tyres Ltd. of India—has launched a range of radial truck and bus tires for the Indian market.
The range, which is based on technology from majority partner Michelin, initially is being imported for distribution through Apollo's dealer network. But the company said it aims to start producing the tires in India by 2005. The product will carry both Michelin and Apollo trademarks on its sidewall, according to a statement from Michelin.
"The two trademarks on the tire is a concrete demonstration of the partnership between Apollo Tyres Ltd. and Michelin, and the contribution each partner brings to the joint venture," said Herve Dub, who officially takes over as CEO of Michelin Apollo Tyres in May.
