CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 13)—Continental Tire North America Inc. will raise prices June 1 on Continental, General, Semperit and private brand passenger, light truck, medium truck and off-the-road tires.
The increases will vary according to market line and size. Passenger and light truck tire prices will rise 3 to 5 percent, with truck and OTR tire prices increasing 2 to 5 percent.
The company said it is raising prices to offset escalating raw material prices. This is Conti's second price hike on passenger and light truck tires this year and third since July 2003. Prices on Continental, General and private brand passenger and light truck tires rose 3 to 6 percent Feb. 1. Conti boosted prices 5 percent on Continental and General brands last July. The firm also raised prices on its Continental, General, Semperit and private brand medium and heavy radial truck and OTR tires 3 to 5 percent Dec. 1.
