BEIJING (April 8)—Tenneco Automotive plans to open an engineering center in China within the next 18 to 24 months to boost its base in the country, where it is involved in five joint ventures.
The location of the center has not been determined but the company intends to invest several million dollars in the facility, the firm said.
"Establishing an engineering center in China is an important next step in managing our growth in this dynamic market," said Mark P. Frissora, chairman and CEO of Lake Forest, Ill.-based Tenneco Automotive. He said the company expects a growth rate in China of about 10 percent annually over the next five to seven years.
