SHANGHAI, China (April 2)—BASF A.G., Huntsman Polyurethanes and their Chinese partners have broken ground on their billion-dollar isocyanates complex near Shanghai.
The partnership is building two plants—for 240,000 metric tons of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and 160,000 tons of toluene diisocyanate—that are expected to come on stream in 2006.
BASF and Huntsman are partnering with Shanghai Hua Yi (Group) Co, Sinopec Shanghai Gao Qiao Petrochemical Corp and Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical Co. Ltd.
