AKRON (March 25)—The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined Goodyear $274,050 for allegedly failing to protect workers from hazards at its Akron power plant.
OSHA found six serious and four willful citations against the Akron-based tire maker in the case of a worker who, last September, was trapped and buried up to his neck in coal for four hours in the power plant's coal bunker. Goodyear officials could not immediately be reached for comment, but the agency said Goodyear has 15 working days to appeal before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
