DENHAM, N.C. (March 17)—Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex L.L.C. will raise the price of nitrile latex by 5 cents a dry pound globally effective April 1. The firm also is considering making an additional price hike in the third quarter, depending on market conditions at the time.
Rob Ewing, global marketing manager, cited "the unprecedented, prolonged increase in both raw material and energy costs" as the prime reason for the hikes.
In addition to the nitrile latex price hikes, Dow Reichhold previously announced it will increase prices on a variety of specialty latexes sold in North America. The specialty latex joint venture of Dow Chemical Co. and Reichhold Inc. also is evaluating the need for additional increases in the next two quarters.
